About Rich Taste Buds

Hi, I’m Rich, a home cook and proud pet parent to a dog and three cats.
Rich Taste Buds started because I wanted to know exactly what I was feeding my pets. The more I cooked for myself, the more I started wondering what I could safely share with them. That curiosity turned into a full-on obsession with finding wholesome, balanced food options for both people and animals.
I’m not a veterinarian, but I put real time into researching every recipe and ingredient on this site. My goal is simple: help pet owners feel confident about what goes in their furry family members’ bowls. Whether it’s a quick treat recipe, an ingredient safety guide or a full homemade dog food meal prep, everything here is written with care.
Outside of the kitchen, I’m involved in local animal welfare, supporting shelters and fostering animals when I can. My pets are my motivation for everything on this site, and I hope it shows.
What You’ll Find Here
Rich Taste Buds is built around one idea: food is better when it’s shared. On this site you’ll find recipes for people that are worth making on a weeknight, safe and nutritious treat recipes for dogs and cats, and honest ingredient guides that answer the questions every pet owner Googles at 11pm. Everything is written in plain language with no fluff, because you’ve got dinner to make and pets to feed.

Why I Started Writing About Pet Nutrition
It started with a simple question: can my dog have some of this? I was cooking at home one night and my dog was doing his best impression of someone who hadn’t eaten in weeks. I gave him a piece of something and then immediately went down a rabbit hole trying to figure out if it was actually safe. I couldn’t find a straight answer anywhere that didn’t feel overly clinical or vague. That’s the gap Rich Taste Buds is trying to fill — real, useful information written by someone who genuinely cares about getting it right.
A Note on Vet Advice
Everything on this site is researched carefully and written in good faith, but I’m a home cook and pet lover, not a veterinarian. Every dog and cat is different, and what works for one may not work for another. Please always check with your vet before making significant changes to your pet’s diet, especially if they have existing health conditions. Think of Rich Taste Buds as a starting point for ideas, not a substitute for professional advice.
